Back Pain and Pregnancy

Low back pain and pregnancy seem to go hand in hand. It is estimated that 50% of pregnant women will experience low back pain and 30% of those individuals will become disabled by it.

It has often been surmised that the baby "was resting on a nerve", but we know now that this is not the case.

Unfortunately, pregnant women have the right to the same back pain the rest of us experience, only the pregnancy makes them so much more vulnerable due to theunique changes in anatomy and physiology. Fortunately, something can be done about it.

Chiropractic care is a safe, effective, comfortable and a low cost and low tech approach to helping the obstetrical patient with her neck and back pain.

I have treated hundreds and hundreds of pregnant women over the years presenting with back pain, sciatica, muscle spasms, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, numbness and tingling, mid back pain, neck pain and heart burn. Ninety five percent of my obstetrical patients are referred to my office by their OBGYN.

When I get a referral from the obstetrician/midwife, I know more serious causes of low back pain have been considered. If you are pregnant and suffering from back pain, you can give me a call. I would be happy to talk to you over the phone and answer any questions. It can be nerve racking going to a new doctor, especially a new kind of doctor, while you're pregnant, and in pain. I get it. We truly are here to help.
